John Wheatley Funeral Services was established by John Edwin (Ted) Wheatley in 1935 in Crown Street, Darlinghurst, to serve the needs of Sydney families who wanted a degree of quality, professionalism and care that not every  funeral service offered then – or indeed, now.

In the 1960s, Ted's son John Edwin (Jack) Wheatley Jnr moved the now well-established family business to Chester Hill and later opened the Panania office to extend our services to families in the greater Sydney region.

With Jack's retirement, his daughter Jan and her husband Kevin Phillips took up the reins to continue the family's fine tradition of outstanding service to the community.

They were then followed into the business by their children Michael and Leonie who continue to maintain the exceptional standards of service, established by their great-grandfather over 75 years ago, for which John Wheatley Funeral Services have become renowned.

Does it matter to our clients that we are a family business? When they contact us they find that it truly does.  As a family, there is a warmth and connection that underlies everything we do and which takes what we do far beyond being simply business.
